On Friday, September 26 a small group of Art For Others members visited Calle Ocho for their monthly Viernes Culturales. Despite the typical Miami rain, we were fortunate to attend Dr. Paul George's historic Little Havana Walking Tour. We visited the Tower Theater which I learned was the first theater to have American films with Spanish subtitles for the many Cuban exiles that fled Castro's communism in the early 1960s. We also visited the house of the first Mayor of Miami. We also saw the sculptures dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Bay of Pigs invasion. I found it very interesting.
